    CC 2017 requires:
    Multicore processor with 64-bit support
    8GB of RAM (16GB recommended)

    CC 2014:
Intel Core2 Duo or AMD Phenom II processor with 64-bit support
4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)

What’s up here? I thought there newer versions were if anything further optimized for performance. Or is this just about people tending to edit higher res footage these days?

My setup isn’t that great, 3615qm CPU with max 12GB ram (8GB right now). Is it worth it for me to use CC 2017 or should I go for an older version, maybe even CS6.

Further, I would suggest those are minimum requirements. I wouldn’t run with less than 32GB RAM if I could possibly avoid it.

In some cases (After Effects), core code is being re-written, which can make a difference. That said, we can almost always expect system requirements to climb upwards. It’s always a race between what manufacturers build the computers to do and what the software creators demand of them.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2015.02 (as of 6/2016)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.
