Still being kind of new to some things in the core version of C4D 9.52. I’m going through different Tuts on the web. The one I’m doing now is an exercise in Caustics. The Tut is structured around a Plane, Sphere and Light. I beleive the Tut was originally written for version 7 The Main settings for the Caustics read:

[ Doubleclick to open the Light panel.
-General Tab: Leave light Type to Omni, Set Shadow Type to Soft.
-Caustic Tab: Just check the Enable in Surface Caustics. Leave the paras.]

Question: After I’ve selected Light in the Object Manager and I go to the Attributes Manager to enter the settings. I can’t access the Surface Caustics checkbox in the Caustics Tab. It’s Shaded out. What’s the reason for this and the workaround.

The other thing is that this Tut talks about a BhodiNut Shader. I don’t see it in C4D. Is it under another name or has Maxon replaced BhodiNut with another Shader?

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Aw man! You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve got to have Advanced Renderer to have Caustics? That’s jacked up, man.

You would know a workaround of some sort would you.

Thanks for the help Nolan. I’m sitting up watching the game and messing with C4D.
