catastrophe after export of FCP timeline to shake
After the export (send to) of a FCP timeline to shake, half of the clips have been deleted by not knewn circumstances and were offline for ever. I tried to recover the final cut movie files with FileSalvage and DataRescue II, – I found it but the recovery programs had

Can’t you just open the Shake file and export a new media file?

Hi Shane,
thanks for reply. Already inside Shake some of the clips had been deleted by some unknown bug. So the mess already has happened.
The question is now to recover the deleted Final Cut movie files (no Quicktime conversions).

Recapture the original source files with FCP. Batch Capture. They should reconnect then.

Same thing happened to me a while back… twice in a row. The media files are just g-o-n-e gone. All I’ve come up with is a bug that comes into play when passing media around between Pro apps with several of them open at a time. Sounds like you’re in the same boat I was in that there’s no way to recover your file (at least the iteration you lost) from tape. My project was an older one that got pulled off of the back burner and set in my lap when I started my current job. I think that’s the right way to put it because it causes a warming sensation that eventually and invariably leads to long-term discomfort.
Sorry… I would say keep a backup (obviously) of everything, although it sounds like your drive space is maxed out. After doing this I don’t feel as if I’m taking my life into my hands when I use the send to Shake command.
I realize none of this helps you… just wanted to let you know you aren’t alone.

Wow, that’s terrible! Of all the things a bug in video program should *not* do is trash your source video files. Geez, that’s about the biggest, number 1 stop-ship bug I could think of. Have you enquired over in the Shake forum here?
I’ve just acquired Shake and I’m about to do some playing, but maybe I should be careful not to point it at any important video. Did this happen just on a send-to, or did you also do some work in Shake on the sent sequence?
I really feel for you, wish I could offer some help.
