I’m brand new to Photoshop and I’ve been unable to find a book or online tutorial for what I’d like to do. I have an extracted image of a person in a wide shot composition. I’d like to create a full body shadow cast behind him. I’ve worked with the fx shadows but that apparently won’t work. Is there a way to do this? It seems like it should be rather simple.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Another option is to go to lynda.com.
$25 per month unlimited for any video tutorial.
    Has training for Photoshop and
Advanced stuff including how to make realistic shadows by Bert Monroy.
    He is amazing.

Lucky me! I happened to pick this one up at the library.

    Thanks.

    1. Make a duplicate layer of the body shape.
    2. Select the body shape area and fill with black.
    3. Do an Edit > Transform > Shear to set the black at a diagonal
    4. Blur to taste the far end of the shape.
    5. Move the layer directly below the original body shape.

At the bottom of the layers palette click the little cursive “f.” Choose “drop shadow.” Adjust to your taste.
