    Hi all,

I’ve got a comp with some images being dropped or slide on top of a background. There’s a camera with a slight move that creates the 3D space. Objects are well distributed so they don’t overlap in the “x” axis. There’s a spot light that creates a vignette effect and also allows the objects to project 3D behaving shadows over the background.

Once the objects land on the background the camera move remains and here is where I am seeing waving artifacts on the edges of the shadows. I’ve tried putting shadows with Layer Styles and these look fine but don’t behave the way I’d like. I am rendering Animation so output quality is not the issue, as far as I know.

Is this a common problem with 3D cast shadows in AE? This is AE 5.5 btw.

Here’s a link to the file. First Picture is in shadow only mode so the problem it’s seen more clearly.

    Thanks for your help!

Shadows can do this in AE in these instances where 2 flat planes are really clise together ( like a piece of paper on a table). Try giving them a little more space to breathe.
