Career Advice Anyone???
I am currently working for a small post production company in london, it’s my first job out of uni (have been here for nearly a year). I’ve been working mainly on graphics for corporate videos but am looking to get involved in more interesting work. So if my situation here doesn’t change soon I’ll be looking for a new job.
As I said the work hasn’t been greatly exciting, so portfolio wise I haven’t got the kind of work that would get me into a top company and I’ve been too busy to get on with my own projects so I guess I would have to sell myself on technical abilities.
So do I continue learning after effects which I’m already good at or start learning Combustion. I was thinking of investing in some decent training. There are a few points to consider
1) I have a copy of after effects
2) Don’t have a copy of Combustion nor do I have any experience of it
3) I could buy Combustion out of my own money at a stretch but am quite poor at the moment. However I am prepared to do it if necessary+ points of Combustion that I am aware of is transition to workstations like flint/flame/inferno would be much easier
basically what would make me more employable and allow me to work for the interesting companies, do they use AE or Combustion.
Would like to get involved in title sequences/effects for ads/stings/music vid etc.
Sorry about the long post and thanks for reading
