Cardreader issues with AVCHD in Finalcutpro
Hi everybody,
I am testing a workflow for a documentary using the Panasonic HDC-SD707. The plan is to transfer the files from the SD-card to a Macbook Pro using a cardreader.
But unfortunatly that does not work. Finalcutpro only recognizes the files when I read the SD-card through the camera (connected to Macbook via USB).
If I put the SD-card in the cardreader, finalcutpro does not see any moviefiles.
It keeps saying: “folder contains not supported media or an invalid filestructure.
Any idea how I can avoid using the camera to transfer the clips ?

And what happens when you copy the card contents into a folder on your hard drive, then point FCP to that? Works fine for me…

Unfortunatly copying the files did not work.
But after hours of trying and almost giving up, I found the problem:
The card was not formatted right. Even though I had formatted it before using it in the camera, it seemed to miss something.
I formatted again, now everything works.

Always format cards in the camera for best results…
