And you are sure in your FCP preferences that you are pointing FCP to that scratch drive?

    hi guys,

As you guys suggested above, I did them all like; convert drive to OS-extened, check the camera, uninstalling and re-install the FCP but still, it didn’t work.

My assumption was change setting at perference and uncheck at
    – report dropped frames during plaback
    – abort ETT/PTV on dropped frames
    – abort capture on dropped frames and
    – warn when improrting non-optimised media

After that I shut down both camera and FCP software. And start over again. It works!!

But i’m not sure my assuption will either revelant with the problem or will it create another problem. Please suggest

That’s because you have told FCP to keep capturing even when there’s dropped frames. This is not recommended. There is something wrong with the way you have everything configured, or you are leaving out a very crucial step of your workflow that you aren’t telling us. It’s hard to help in these situations as we don’t know the whole story. YOu have plenty of drive speed to capture DV PAL, you have plenty of space there’s just something amiss in your settings or workflow.

i am having a similar problem with FCP on a Dual 2GHZ G5 2GB Ram seperate Media drive capturing DV only. It started with FCP not seeing the Deck at all. I reinstalled FCP and quicktime and it now saw the deck but reports dropped frames after about 20 seconds. The strange thing is that Avid on the same system could see the deck all the time and doesn’t drop frames.

Assuming that there was some sort of OS problem i have formated the system drive and reinstalled the OS and FCP and Avid. Again Avid has no problems but FCP drops frames. This system was working fine for 2 years. I have 5 other systems with the same configuration all running fine with no problems.

    Any suggestions?

Is your separate media drive a firewire drive?
