    Hi,

My director is shooting a 60 second tvc in the next few weeks, using the sony f900r. Due to the nature of the spot, it’s not something that can be storyboarded easily – there will be a fair bit of improvisation on the day. He’s interested in running an SDI feed to his laptop, so footage can be captured as shot, and a rough cut can be pieced together on set as the shoot progresses.

Footage can be in a proxy codec, obviously timecode would be fantastic so we can replace our proxy footage with our final high quality footage without too much messing around.

Anyone tried this? Techniques / hardware to recomend? The new, cheap Blackmagic SDI recorder looks great but its not out till mid june.

Look no further than the ioHD. Captures ProRes or (HQ). Edit and post in HQ no real reason to recapture (but I understand if you want to).
