    Hi,
I have a Sony mini dv (DCR-HC26) and purchased a firewire (pci card, cable) and this was a great improvement over just using the usb setup, but it’s still not as bright/clear as when I’m viewing it on the camcorder viewing screen.

The firewire I’m using is an inexpensive setup purchased from newegg and I was wondering if I go to a higher quality firewire cable would I get an improvement when capturing video into Sony Vegas (I’m using Vegas 7.0 when the updates)? Is there a certain cable that works best with Vegas?

Or should I be doing something in Vegas to get a better look, settings wise? As you can tall I’m a rookie so go easy 🙂

    Thanks,
    Glen

Your firewire card and cable will not affect how bright/clear your picture is.

The preview window in Vegas has several quality settings.
The higher quaity you set it at the better your preview will look at the expense of reduced framerate.

Most likely yours is set at one of the lower quality settings.
