Capturing video closes down FCP only after I’m done capturing.
I work for an Outdoor Center and we make action videos of the day’s various trips, mostly whitewater. I use a G5 dual processor something something, it was new last summer. Lately I’ve have some issues where FCP closes down after I finish capturing. I was brought kicking and screaming into the Mac world and I’ve had problem after problem, that is to say, I’ve almost run back to Premiere Pro. Also, I understand that Macs do not need defragmenting, I think this one does. Ideas?

I’ve been having the same problem, but I’m not sure that it’s the drives. Many times my G4 will crash after capturing footage. If I capture the same footage on the same disks using my laptop it works fine. Both computers have the same version of FinalCut and the same version of the Mac OS. I still haven’t been able to figure out just what’s going on.
