    This is not a direct FCP question but what I want to know is, do you lose quality when capturing video into FCP or any other editing software for that matter if the footage is being captured from a cheaper consumer camcorder even though it was shot on a more expensive prosumer camcorder? Hope this makes sense. For example, I shot some video footage on my friends Sony Z1 which is what I believe to be a pro standard camera but captured the video into FCP from my cheap canon camcorder?

    Apologies if this may sound like a stupid question!

    Technically yes but difference is negligible – no one will ever notice until you have a problem with cleaning heads.
