    Hi There,
Has anyone come across this before. I have a Canon MV5i Camera which is what I’ve used for videoing and capturing into FCP5. My camera is getting repaired, and have a loan Canon Camera MV430i. When I load my DV tapes to capture into FCP, it captures it for a few seconds, then prompts me with “Capture Encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape….capture has been aborted”. Now when I use IMovie HD to capture, it captures it ok, however, when I playback on the timeline, the footage is equivalent to watching it in fast forward. I’ve imported the dv file into FCP5 and the same thing. Now, I did some videoing using the loan camera and captured the video footage in FCP5 without any problems. I’ve spoken to Canon and they said they have never come across this before. Has this happened to anyone? I’ve got so much footage on Mini DV tapes recorded on my camera that for some reason won’t capture from the loan camera.

    Cheers
    Anna

Sounds like miss-matched head alignment between the camcorders.

Borrow ANOTHER DV camcorder from anyone you know (any brand, any model, home video unit is fine) and try capturing with that unit into FCP.
