    Hi,

i am new to this community. i am trying to capture to an external hard drive. My drive is connected to my G4 (via firewire), and the camera is connected to my external drive (also via firewire). When i try to log and capture, in the Log and Capture window it reads “no thread” where it usually reads “no communication” or “VTR ok”. Where can i change my prefrences or settings so that the camera is detected and read through the external drive as the source of the capture? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,

What camera? Is it on the list of supported devices? Plus, are you using FCP or FCE?

Did you turn on the camera before you launched…wait…no thread? Is there a tape in the camera? When a tape is inserted into a camera, it is “threaded” around the playhead.

why don’t you just capture to your computer but set your capture scratch to the external drive?
