I am trying to capture a still frame from a video file to use in creating a DVD cover for my project. How do I grab a still from the file in the timeline in Sony Vegas 6?

Click the “Save Snapshot” button just above the preview screen? It looks like a disk.

You might want to change to Best (Full) preview mode first as that affects the quality of the captured image. To get the absolute best quality, you might want to look a the various scripts that can save a snapshot as they also deinterlace the image and reset everything back when done.
