capturing some hdv
Hey…there I just got a FX1 camera and did my first capture yesterday in premiere pro. I guess it is automatically captured into mpeg2 right? Are there some tricks to enhance one’s capture, like a different codec for capture that works better? Am just curious and am trying to get the best possible capture!!!

If you are working in the PPro CS3 native HDV preset there is no other codec you can choose to improve it. It is using the same mpeg2 format it was recorded in so there is no way to make it ‘better’. There is however a 3rd party plugin by cineform called aspectHD. It allows you to work with a preset with an avi wrapper upsampling the colour information from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 for better colour corrections. It also has a visually lossless generation (exports). You can work more layers of HDV video without rendering. It’s very powerful.
