  • Capturing SD that was shot with HD on SD tapes

I recently have invested in a couple Sony HVR-A1 HD cameras but shot in SD for fear of being unfamiliar with editing in HD. I am now at the point of capturing footage and wondering what alterations i may need to make in FCP setting in order to capture accordingly. help?

    DV-NTSC should work.

Thats what the SD mode is if the camera is HDV.

where would i go to adjust settings in FCP? when i go to log and capture, communication is set up but no video shows up. There is video playback however on the camera screen so footage is ok. is this a setting issue of the camera or a setting in FCP that i must adjust? or somethign different…. i’m entering into foreign territory here.

This really should be in the Final Cut Pro Basics forum.

Make sure your camera is set up for DV output.

Make sure your FCP Easy Setup is DV-NTSC (or DV PAL if required)

    Capture.
