    Hi,

Is it possible to capture NTSC DV directly into media express via firewire? I have a large collection of MiniDV tapes with standard NTSC video on them that need ingested as part of an archival project.

I want to keep the video files native to what is on the tape and was hoping I could do that directly into media express avoiding FCP and its ‘lovely’ folder structures for capture. But I don’t see a capture preset on media express for NTSC video and I’m not even sure media express recognizes a firewire deck like a DSR-40.

I’m new to media express, sorry if there is an obvious answer to this.

    Thanks,
    Bleakley

I believe Media Express is for Blackmagic hardware only. I haven’t captured DV or anything via firewire in quite a while, especially on my mac. But there are some free apps for Mac to capture DV via fireware. Check out my link. It will keep the DV25 quality that is on the tape. You do know that when you import it into FCP, it converts it to ProRez right?
