Capturing programming for immediate web upload.
Posted by Dick Rosebud on April 3, 2005 at 8:24 amI would like to record a show, programming to stop recording each programmed commercial break, and have a clean commercial free file ready to go and ready for upload. What setup can do this?

April 6, 2005 at 4:29 pm[Dave LaRonde] “… I think the reason you haven’t gotten any responses to your post is that it sounds like you’re attempting to something that’s not legal. Unless you own the rights to the program in question, doing what you propose to do violates copyright law. Very few people in this forum — including myself — would touch your query with a ten-foot pole.”
I didn’t reply because I couldn’t find my 10-ft. pole at first. 😉
_If_ the original poster has completely legit rights to the material, I’d guess many 15 year old kids might have the requisite skills to “script” a Windows Media PC to do something similar to what he describes. 🙂
But if he lives in a more civilized country than I, their teenagers would never dream of doing such a thing. Of course, these children may have seen teenage actors doing such things in “foreign” movies, TV and magazines; thus the corruption begins …
But sure, what he describes seems entirely doable, but would only be ethical or legal if he had absolute rights to the material, for all the purposes he mentions, in writing & in advance.
So what say ye, “kippard”?
All the best,
– Peter

Dave: Just for giggles, if you get another spare minute, do a search on Google’s “Groups” page using my full name in quotes “Peter DeCrescenzo” as the search string.
Something like 12,000 hits are returned. (Most from when I worked at Macromedia.)
It’s scary how our past web “lives” can come back to haunt us! 😉
All the best,
