  • Capturing problem with a Sony Z1U

I am testing a trial version of PP with my Sony Z1U and can’t seem to capture in 1080. I can control the camera from the software but the capture screen says the device is offline and will no capture. Could someone kindly enlighten me? Thanks!

Are you using the HDV settings ?

On the camera I have the HDV to DV downconvert turned off and am using the 1080 setting on the PP project.

Interesting enough, while the capture screen on PP reads “Capture Device Offline”, if I go to the Device Control Options, the “Check Status” botton reads “Online”. How can this be?

Also, why does the Sony Z1U not show up on the list of supported Sony Device Types?

I’m capturing my Z1U just fine in PP 2.0

    A couple things:

    1. The Z1U isn’t specifically listed in the Sony devices, but using “standard” works for me.
    2. When I’m setting individual clip in/out points for a batch capture, OCCASIONALLY the control buttons (play, rew, ff, etc.) dim out and don’t work even though it says the device is online. If I toggle to another screen, then back to the capture screen, the buttons are back and working. Not sure what’s up with that, but it seems like screen/window focus (which window is active) can sometimes affect whether or not the controls work.

The trial version does not support HDV. You have to get the full version for that.
