    Hey all.

I’m having a bit of a problem capturing video from my Panasonic PVGS70D camera with Premiere Pro 1.5. I’m going from the camera to an internal HDD via firewire, and in the past I have been able to capture video problem free. However, I recently formatted my system and after reinstalling Premiere, am unable to capture usable video.

The sequence of events is basically as follows.

    1. Attach camera via firewire
    2. Open capture dialogue
    3. Press record on on-screen dialogue(or play)
    4. Video plays fine for about 2-4 seconds
    5. Video starts to studder and the framerate drops signifigantly, giving almost a strobe effect. The video, along with the audio, becomes very lagged, almost as if the data can’t transfer fast enough. The audio (heard through the PC speakers) is distorted, slowed down, and the pitch is very low, almost like the audio is being streached out.

The same thing happens if i try to record directly from the camera (not the dv tape).

I have absolutely no idea what would cause this, especially because I am able to capture video on the same system using programs other than Premiere.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked youe scratch disks to make sure that you are not capturing to your C drive?

I’m actually only using one harddrive, and it happens even in the preview, before capturing to disk.

Check your camera settings in the Bin Capture window to make sure they are set for your camera. If there is not a driver for your camera you could try different Pannasonic camera drivers. However, even if you are able to capture, with only one hard drive you are going to run into other problems as you start editing.
