I have a camera in vcr mode hooked up. I’m using latest Final Cut Pro. When I go to capture (now) it starts capturing for a few second and gives me this error message:

“Capture encountered a problme reading your data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved.”

Just for more info, this is a tape I recorded over, and I didn’t reset the timecodes or anything. But I would think there’s gotta be a way to simply play the tape and capture, right?

    Any help much appreciated..

    Thanks,

    Miro

If you are going to use the Capture Now function, have you changed the capture settings tab to “uncontrollable device”? If not then change it and then hit capture now and then hit play manually on your camera/vcr.

That, of course, would be non-controllable device…there are already enough uncontrollable devices running around out there.
