  • Capturing NTSC DVCAM with Sony M35P

I just had 3 tapes converted from PAL to NTSC at my local video specialist and have hired a M35P VTR to capture the NTSC tapes in FCP (6.0.6)

When I plug the VTR into my Mac via Firewire all the controls work and seem fully operational. However, when I try to capture the tape all I get is an error message on the screen saying “This operation could not be completed as there is no video.”

I have checked the composition settings, the VTR settings and the capture settings many times over and I can see no logical reason why this would not work. I have also run tests using PAL tapes and a pal project and it all works fine.

Does anyone have any ideas??? Its getting to a point where I my lose this project so ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    VTR Settings – DVCAM, 60i
Capture Settings – DV NTSC 48Khz Anamorphic
Project Settings – DV NTSC 48Khz Anamorphic
