Is it possible to record footage on a camera & capture it onto a laptop at the same time. I’m trying to capture it on a laptop (2ghz intel core 2 duo) with a Panasonic DVX100A. I found that I was able to capture live with the device control set to non-controllable device. However, I am not receiving the timecode from the camera. I would like to receive the timecode from the camera so I will be able to restore the project in the future if neccesary. Any ideas?

That is a feature of FCP, in that mode it does not accept TC.

Since you have set the camera to send a signal without device control – there is not any TC to be looked at by FCP- you for all intents turned off the TC steam.

Now “IF” FCP could actually read live TC over anything but a 9 pin serial connection – we would be having a different discussion.

While reading your post I noticed a little ad on the right. Take a look!

Yeah, I have had one for over a year, still does not mean that

    1) The Poster was doing live capture over FW. without device control the camera does not give time code over the stream that FCP understands.

    2) FCP does not read timecode over anything but FW or 9 Pin ( the adrienne box “spoofs” FCP into thinking that it is getting 9pin serial info).

    3) The Adrienne box gets LTC over SDI from a camera and needs a capture card to properly work-
