i am in the process of logging and capturing HDV footage (26 – 1 hour tapes).

some of my clips are pretty long (interviews around 25mins or more).

will FCP 5 choke on these large clips? is it better to break them down?

or can i save time by capturing these longer clips and then break them down in FCP later, if needed?

Breaking tapes up into smaller clips is just smart in general. If you lose one, then it won’t take an hour to re-capture it, only 10 min.

I suggest Logging and Capturing clips in 10 minute chunks, of course waiting until between questions.

Plus is does help FCP..and you…in terms of speed. Searching a 10 min clip instead of an hour long one is always faster.
