we shot a bunch of stuff on a PD 150 and now that loaner has gone back and we have a stack of tapes. is it allright to use a lesser camera to capture material ? now that all the the three CCD glory has been recorded as data can it run back out of a camera that is just one CCD without affecting the quality ?

The CCD sees light and turns that into digital data. Once it’s done that it has nothing else to do with your video.

Yes, you’re fine. The only thing you have to have is a camera that will play the format that was recorded (either DV or DVCAM in your case).

But as long as it plays the video at all, then what you get over firewire is 100% the same no matter what camera/deck you use.
