I was wondering if i can capture footage from my hv30 into fcp 6 realtime without having to first capture onto a tape?

Can I plug in my firewire cable and record footage onto my mac instantly?

    thanks

Not sure if it will work, but I do know you will need to put FCP in ‘non-controllable device’ and you will lose timecode.

    Try it and see.

Well if you don’t have tape in the camera, then you don’t need to worry about time code do you?

Worth a try. Better if you have a capture card like the Decklink Intensity, but definately worth testing.

I’d still run tape for backup purposes, but maybe that’s just me?
