I’m having HDV capturing issues. I keep seeing people say capture in SD if can, and I want to, but can’t seem to. I’m not sure what settings to use to get it to work. I can capture with the Apple Int. Codec, but that’s about it.
But it doesn’t pull up the capture window, just a dialog box that says start HD capture.
I’ve tried different settings and nothing. I can get the capture box to come up and can control the camera but I get no video.

I have a Canon HV20 and am still using FCP 5.0.4.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Does that camera output HDV in DV? Does it downconvert? If the camera does, then it’s in a menu somewhere. You have to set it there and you’ll be able to capture.

Not sure who told you it was a good idea to downconvert. I think most people prefer to work in HDV natively. Can’t remember though, maybe that version doesn’t work with HDV natively.

    All the best,

    Tom
