Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy capturing HDV

I am taking over an HDV project and was wondering which capture settings to use. The old editor is not available.

When I look in the browser the compressor used was HDV 1080i60, frame six 1440×1080. But i can’t seem to have the deck recognized – i have tried HDV easy set ups as well as my own. I rented a Sony GV-HD700

Also wondering if there is a way to bring it in at a lower resolution to save drive space and then re-capture at higher later…

    [spencer schilly] ” I rented a Sony GV-HD700″

FCP doesn’t play with the Sony GV-HD700. Apparently it doesn’t use standard Sony protocol.

HDV is only 13Gb per hour, exactly same as DV, even though its HD. With 1Tb hard drives available now for just $200 it makes absolutely no sense to take the time and effort to recapture.

BTW, when you get a proper deck or camera, use the HDV 1080i/60 Easy Setup.

    Hope this helps…

Well Spencer, from your posts on the FCP Forum it seems that the deck you rented may now play with FCP… So, disregard what I said about that. However, my other answers to your quetions still apply…
