    Hey all,

I’ve read some of the old posts, but I’m not getting the answer I need. Working on FCP 5 and I have an HDV tape that I need to capture and all I can see is black in FCP.

I have the Sony HDV deck hooked up thru firewire into my G5. I need to capture this as HD. Easy setup HDV. Timecode is running in the log and capture window and I have deck control, but all I see is black in FCP. I’ve got the picture playing in the deck. What am I missing? When I capture now, it only captures black.

    Thanks,
    Suzanne

Believe it or not, you have to quit out of FCP, make sure the deck is plugged in and turned on BEFORE launching FCP. That’s what it took for me to get it working, and I’ve run into a couple of different times. That method seems to fix the problem each time.
