capturing from time line
i have a problem with re-capturing footage,
i need to capture only the footage used in the time line.
can any one help me, or point me in the right direction please? -

You need to media manage the sequence and create a new project.
Ken stone has a good step by step guide. There is also one on the LAFCPUG as well.

Well, creating a new project is a strange step that I think you have to go through. But I just take the bin and sequence it puts in the new project and drag them to a bin in the old project that I label ONLINE SEQUENCE or something.

In order to do this you will have to use media manager. There is no decompose command in FCP as there is in AVID. You have to create a whole new media managed project to accomplish this.
TRUST ME.
If you try to move a bin over (as you have suggested, then FCP will want to recapture ALL (as in the entire origianl clip) of your media. If you do not take the time to fllow the steps in these tutorials then you will have to discover this FCP quirk on your own.
So if you don’t like it tell Apple.
