    Hey everyone,

I’m trying to capture footage from digibeta tapes in FCP 5 using the Sony J-30 deck’s Firewire output. I can’t get the video or audio to show up but I can control the deck from FCP. The Firewire output is going straight into my computer and all my settings are at DV NTSC. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a menu setting to send the video to Firewire on the deck? Sony is famous for placing switches or menu settings to change outputs or inputs.

    -AvB,

Walter’s correct. It’s probably a menu function. But here’s some questions for you that will help us troubleshoot your problem.

Have you ever used this deck before? Did it work? Do you have a user’s manual for the deck? Do you know how to access the menu?

Do you have the J-30 connected to an external NTSC monitor to confirm that it’s working?

Are you positive that your firewire cable is good?

    What are your digitize settings?

There’s a million things that it could be. That’s why tech support costs so much!
