    Hi,

I don’t want to use my new DVX 100 to capture footage from the tapes in order to keep the heads in good condition and I heard that if I just buy any cheap minidv camera to do it I won’t lose any resolution…is this true? If not what do you recommend to use as a capture device? I want to get the best quality video possible at a decent price and with minimal wear and tear on the camera. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

That is correct. That said, a good DV deck such as a Sony DSR-11 will make your life a whole lot easier in post than a cheap camcorder. They are quite slow to rewind and cue for one thing….
