Capturing errors
I am working in Final Cut 2 and trying to capture footage that was shot 24p (not advanced). I have logged my clips with this in mind, but when I start the capture, I receive an error that says I am trying to drop frames on non drop frame footage. It then starts the capture and quits after a few seconds. My AV and Capture settings are set at NTSC 24p, and I have tried the following: restarting Final Cut, re-logging, changing to drop frame, different decks, re-logging…I have shot since then with no errors. It is just this batch of four tapes all shot in one day. Any Suggestions?

I believe you need to capture in 60i instead of 24p. Unless you have a camera that shoots in true 24p, the 24 fps were woven into a 60i format likely using a 2:3 pulldown. If you used a DV camera, this is how it works. There is an option in FCP to remove the pulldown from 24p footage, but I have not used it. Maybe someone else on this forum could give some input on that.
