Gentlemen, I am attempting to capture video to FC and am getting an odd picture which I do not know how to troubleshoot. I’ve tried multiple capture settings with no luck. I am hopeful someone recognizes the condition of still frame I have and can point me in the right troubleshooting direction.

First, I do not know how to upload a picture sample which I believe will prove helpful to you. Maybe we can start with that.

    Format: DVCPro50 tapes
    Playback: Panasonic AJ-HD1400
    Firewire 400 Connection
    Final Cut Studio 6.0.6
Intel Macpro Tower Quad Core, 10gb memory, Four 1TB hard drives, NVIDIA GeFore GT 120

Condition: Getting good playback, but rectangular shifted video which garbles the picture. Looks like 100% of video is there, just shifted around via these small digital rectangles.

    Additional:

1- I have timecode control. Although the deck is displaying different timecode than log and capture.
2- If I check the “drop frame” box the video displays smooth with the rectangle box view as in the picture. If I uncheck the box (for non-drop frame) the picture plays back jumpy but still with the same view as the pic.
3- I am able to log, batch and capture video like normal. But the picture is what the attached pic is.
4- Note: I have a Blackmagic Decklink SP PCIe card if anyone thinks I should be connecting that route instead.

NEVER MIND, NEVER MIND! I FIGURED THIS ONE OUT.

This was a pre set issue. I was told the format of the recordings incorrectly. I went back and changed the “Capture Preset” from 720p 24 to 1080i 60 and PRESTO the picture is clean.

Sorry for taking anyone’s valuable time. I hope I caught this in time to not waste YOUR time!

    Thanks!
