Capturing DAT
Hi all. I was wondering if you can capture audio from DAT with just a mac book pro and final cut Pro(without any capturing card) If not what do you need to capture audio from DAT into Final Cut. Thank you.

Use the optical in if your dat player has an optical out. This will be the cleanest signal, however…
It may be smarter to dub to DV tape, then capture the DV tape with firewire so you have a time coded source if the project might need to be batch captured in the future.
Depends on the project.
iMic is a very low cost way to get an analog signal into your system if you don’t need time code, and don’t have an optical output from your DAT deck.
