    Anybody done this before?

I have a mac pro running FCP7 and I’m trying to capture through my Kona 3 card from the PVW – 2800 deck. I have the remote 9 pin connected and the computer can control the device but I’m not getting any video/audio signal when I hook the composite out to the In SDI on my breakout box.

Is it an issue of digital/analog?

If so how should I connect the deck?

    Thanks!

[Ashton Kennedy] “Anybody done this before?”

    Tons. Still do.

[Ashton Kennedy] ” I’m not getting any video/audio signal when I hook the composite out to the In SDI on my breakout box.”

Because the Kona 3 doesn’t take in a Composite signal. That connector is an SDI connection…a digital connection. Your deck and that card cannot work together. You need to rent a deck/player that has SDI out. Such as the J-30SDI. The Kona card only does SDI input…it doesn’t do Composite nor Component input…only output. The Kona LHi did Analog Component and composite input.

[Ashton Kennedy] “If so how should I connect the deck?”

To a computer with a different capture card…or get a different deck. A digibeta deck will do…

Thanks For The Feedback And Suggestions. I Had A Feeling It WAs An Issue With It Not Reading Analog. Will Reconfigure.
