Capturing Betacam SP M&E
I’ve been trying find a way to capture channels 3&4 on a few tapes that I need the M&E off but I haven’t had any luck. The owner of the company was told the purchase the Blackmagic Intensity Pro card but I’ve been told you still can’t control the device in FCP to choose which audio channels to capture.
Before we had the card I had been using a Canopus converter to capture from the betacam deck when just ch. 1&2 of audio were needed. So far it seems like the best way to go would be to purchase the Intensity Shuttle.
Just looking to find out if that is going to be the best way or if there is any other way to capture ch. 3&4.
Just in case the deck model number is UVW-1800.

Instead of plugging the video card to the Betacam CH1 and CH2, why don’t you plug them to CH3 and CH4?

There aren’t ch. 3&4 outputs.

Well, the UVW-1800 only plays 2 channels…CH1& 2, not 3&4. You’ll need a different deck, one with 4 channels of output. And the intensity…it only captures two channels of audio. So you would have to only capture 3&4, and do a separate pass for 1&2 if needed.

That’s what I am saying. You need a different deck. One with 4 channels of output.

You need something like either a BVW 75 or PVW 2800.

No a PVW-2800 does not have the 4 channel feature.
The BVW-75 does, as does the BVW-70, BVW-65 and BVW-60.

Oh, also the DVW-A500 will play a BetaSP tape with 3&4 audio.
Probably all the J series, BetaCam SX and Betacam IMX decks do also.

You also need the correct capture card. The MXO 2, Kona 3, etc.
