what are the best settings to use when capturing from a betasp deck? What gives you the best quality, while at the same time giving manageable file sizes and render times?

since beta SP is not super high format to begin with, does it make sense to use 4:4:4 formats, or can i use a lesser format without losing any quality?

    Thanks for the help

It makes absolutely no sense to capture in 4:4:4 as betacam is 4:2:2 to begin with. 8 bit uncompressed is what I usually use when working with BSP and it looks fine.

Ditto. No reason to use anything but 8bit Uncompressed.

I usually use DV50 with good success. Good quality and a manageable file size.
I also question the comment that Beta SP is a 4:2:2 format since technically it’s an analog format and the sampling rate really doesn’t apply here. The output from the deck is analog. unless you’re using a BVW-D75 deck, a Digibeta, SX deck or another deck that has a built-in A to D converter that is. It is only converted to a digital signal when it passes through a capture card on it’s way into the computer.
