    Hello there

Sorry, i’m kind of new to avid. I’ve got footage of both 4:3 and 16:9 format and i need to be able to capture both easily in Avid. How do you switch between the different formats in avid. There has to be an easy way.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your project going to be 16:9?

Anyhow, unless you mean HD it really does not matter. If your project is 16:9 your 4:3 footage people will look fat. If project is 4:3 your 16:9 people will look skinny.

No matter capture should be the same.

I have to prepare loads of footage for the web, some of it comes in 16:9 and some in 4:3. It all needs to go onto the web in its original format.

    Any advice

    Cheers

No problem, just capture normally and have a separate timeline for each format.
To see the clips in the correct format, right click in the
Source window and toggle between 3:4 and 16:9.
    Hope it helps
