Activity Forums Avid Media Composer Capturing

    Hi!
This is my first post here at COW. And I need help really badly! My problem is this: when i try to capture my material (in Avid) that i’ve recorded, the tape (or deck), doesn’t show up. The camera is connected to my computer with a firewire cable.

I’ve tried clicking on “Adjust deck”, “Auto-configure” and “Check decks”, but nothing really happens.

I also tried clicking on “Tape Name?”, then a message shows, saying: “the deck is empty, offline or turned off. Do you wish to associate a tape with the deck anyway?” If i click “Yes”, i get to choose a tape called “new tape”, but after that, nothing happens again.

And here is the wierd part: When i press play on the camera, i can see the recorded material on the right screen in the avid. But i can’t in anyway control it from the computer, only by pressing “pause” and “play” on the camera.

I understand if this is quite poorly explained and hard to understand, but if someone could help me I would appreciate it so much! and please ask any questions so that i can clear the whole thing up for you!

    Hi Anton – welcome!

If you can tell us your camera model, that would be a great start.

    Hi!
    Ok! It’s a Sony PD150 camera!
Got any clues what might be the problem?
    Thanks!

OK, exit Media Composer. If you are using one, connect it directly to the Mojo 4 pin firewire connection, if not into the CPU 6 pin firewire connection.

    Turn ON the camera.

Open MC, and the project you are working in. Go to ‘setting>deck configuration’ in the main project bin. Select Sony, and PD150. Click ‘apply’ or OK (I’m not in front of an Avid right now…) Open your digitize tool. You should be able to control the deck.

Worst case scenario, just push play on the camera and hit record in the digitize tool…
