Captured Video is BLURRY!
When I Capture Video in FCP from my Sony DVCAM Deck it is blurry or pixelated. It looks just aweful when exported as a Quicktime video. I am importing at NSCT 47kHz
When I import the same video from the same Deck with iMovie the captured video is fantastic and Prefect.
There MUST be some button or setting that is “on” to cause FCP to capture in what looks like a low resolution “draft” version.
HELP!!!

If you’re viewing your video in QT Player, then make sure that you’ve enabled High Quality Video.
Hit Apple+J
Select Video Track
Select Visual Settings
Check the High Quality Video box in the lower rightDid that fix it?

I admit I’m a bit of a novice with this program.
How does my Quicktime player effect the Quality of the Captured Video? I know FCP uses QuickTime, but when I opened QuickTime Player from my Applications folder and did what you said, I didn’t get any of the things you mentioned.
The problem seems to be (at least to me) like FCP is capturing in a “Draft Mode” or something… All my settings seem to be set at DV NTSC 48 kHz.
The strange thing is that the program worked great for weeks, then suddenly low res captured video…

it doesn’t, but sometimes quicktime shows video that looks terrible when viewing it through quicktime itself, thats where you enable the high quality (in the preferences)
I’m not aware of any low quality/offline/draft capture mode for DV.

Check that the Playback quality of your sequence is set to Full. Click on the RT button on the left side of the timeline and check the options there.

okay I did all that – they were all set to “Dynamic”. Also what is Safe RT vs. Unlimited RT?

Where are you seeing this blurry image? In the canvas window or on a monitor? If it’s in the canvas window make sure your window is set to 100% you may have accidentally enlarged it.

It’s the FINAL exported MOV files that look terrible. When I export to a QuickTime video and then make a DVD – it looks bad on the TV sets or Monitors AND in QuickTime on my computer screen.
