Capture VHS though Panasonic Camera with USB
Really, I think I’m screwed. But hope I’m wrong.
Want to capture old VHS tapes. Here’s my old (now failed) setup:
– VCR connected to Panasonic HVX-200 via RGB cables
– HVX connected to MacPro via FW400My Nehalem (I’m still very raw about losing my FW400 ports) won’t allow this setup anymore. Got AVID on a MacPro as well as on my PC laptop, but still no FW ports.
Can you connect camera to computer with USB? I know it’d be a loss in quality but I need to capture regardless.
Otherwise, what would the solution for this job?

Nope. That’s for copying or importing off the cards only. Streaming video isn’t possible down the USB connection.

If the issue is lack of Firewire 400 ports, I believe you can buy FW400 to 800 adapter.
