Actually a very good question, as getting this right will always insure that your FCP projects are setup properly and setup the way other pros will expect them. These things are best when standardized and used consistently, so that collaborators anywhere can simply sit right down and get to work without having to ferret out someone’s creative directory structure.
So, when starting a new project always simply choose the root directory of your media drive (in the Easy Setup or in the FCP System Settings) and allow FCP to automatically create it’s own default directory structure, which will automatically create a sub-directory for each new project with the project name that you create when you initially save the project.
