    Hello

    I am having trouble capture footage through fcp and having it be in sync. In fact, all the footage I capture is out sync by about 3 to 5 seconds.

    I have tried trashing the preferences, and the three main files in the data folder (INSIDE PREFERENCES) and the problem still persists.

    HERE IS THE EQUIPMENT I AM USING:

    FCP VERSRION 5.0.1
    MAC OS VERSION 10.5.3
    CAMERA=PANASONIC PV-GS400
    COMPUTER=MAC BOOK PRO (2.5 GHZ INTEL CORE 2 DUO and 4GB 667MHz DDRR SDRAM)
    IMPORT METHOD=with FIREWIRE 400

    I am simply baffeled. Importing works fine with I-MOVIE HD 5.0.2. (Obviously, I would prefer to work in FCP from the getgo.)

    Are there user/system settings that will help? This is the first time I´ve used a Panasonic camera with FCP. Is that the problem? Is the older version of FCP known to have problems with the new MAC OS?

    I am in the middle of Ecuador and will have one more day of internet usage before I go into the serious bush, so if there´s a brain out there who can help me, I´d be very appreciative.

    Thanks for your time and talent-BRIAN

    This may be a silly question but, have you tried changing your playback settings: System Settings/Playback Control/Frame Offset? Depending on how you are monitoring you may need to set it to 0. I think the default is 4.

    With the FCP-captured clips, do they play in synch if you open them without FCP, in Quicktime?

    Worst-case, since this is DV SD, perhaps it’s not so terrible using iMovie for capture and bringing all the clips into an FCP project from there. Once they’re in FCP’s domain, will it matter to your workflow how you got them there?

    I know this is an old thread- but as of August, FCP 5.0 is no longer supported in Leopard.
