When I use Log and Transfer of my P2 cards, the footage is flagged as 625i DVCPro50 (DV50 in FCP settings).

I want to mix Betacam SP footage with my P2.

If I batch capture my clips with IoHD: PAL 625 25 DV50 – then I would not have to re-render clips added to my timeline?

Normally the timeline “adapts” if I put a clip on it that does not match the sequence settings. So far, so good.

But to not have to re-render (to ProRes 422) the above must be the best way? I see no point in going for ProRes, since the P2 (main camera) footage is DVCPRO50.

    Suggestions welcome.

    Hi Niklas,
What you haven’t told us is how you intend to finish.
If you are going to finish in DV50 or DVD, there is no much reason to capture the Betacam footage as ProRess.
But If you are going to DigiBeta, there are good reasons to capture Proress.

The final output will actually be on the web.

The reason the IoHD was set to ProRes422 was that I captured 50 Betacam SP tapes for output to DVD. (Had plenty of disk :-))

OK, I go for DV50 as capture format from the IoHD.

    Thanks!
