I used the FCP preset for DV NTSC to capture DVCAM footage, but it doesn’t look like DVCAM quality, looks like a downconvert.

I want to create and “easy setup” for DVCAM, since it is not included in Apple’s defualt list – but what should my settings be??

DVCAM is DV. Don’t judge the quality from the capture screen. Look at the video out on a monitor to access quality.

If you’re watching it from QuickTime player, you need to set the player to High Quality to make it look not offline. No idea why…

Yeah – thats what I thought – but when I watch it on a Broadcast Monitor the “print to video” from FCP still seems compressed and lower quality than playing directly from the master tape.

When you edit the Sequence settings there is a “quicktime video settings” choice automatically sets to DV NTSC – so I changed it to uncompressed 4:2:2 and it seems like I am now getting the full quality from the timeline.
