I am test capturing footage from an hdx-900 using the capture now setting. I am puzzled by some of the settings. The footage is DVCPRO HDp24A.

In the Audio/Video settings, under Capture preset settings, the frame size is: 1920 x 11080 HDTV 1080i (16:9)
    Should this be set to: 1280 x 1080 HD 1280x 1080 (16:9)?

In the project folder the frame size is given as 1280 x 1080.

It seems to be capturing correctly and looks ok but I am puzzled by this setting. I know there is probably a fundamental issue here that I just don’t understand.

    Any insights.

    Thanks

    Bob,

Instead of changing the settings in Audio/Video Settings, you’re far better off to find the Easy Setup that matches your footage and let it set everything else for you in that project. The good folks at Apple have taken great pains to insure that the Easy Setups have the right stuff. Setting things manually can be a recipe for disaster, especially when dealing with anamorphic footage and the various flavors of 24p, 24pA, etc., etc., etc.

    Thanks David,

I am using the Easy Setup for DVCPRO HDpA24. However it is a custom setup as I use non-controllable device for capture now.

I was just snooping around the program to try and figure how it worked and was wondering what was up with the settings. Trying to break into the black box so I understood how it works and also trying to decipher the world of HD.
