Using Vista Ultimate 64, have a Sony A1U, when capturing video, I do not see it in the capture screen. But I see it on the A1U LCD screen and the actual footage does capture as an .avi or .mpeg

However, I would like to see the video on the capture video screen. What can be a possibility to get this back?

    Hello,

Same issue with a Canon XH A1 under PP3.2/Vista Ultimate 64. Do you see your video tape content when just playing (not recording)in the capture panel ? Adobe Documentation talk about this issue with Mac, not with Windows. By the way, if you wan’t to display your captured footage on PC screen rather than on the cam LCD, you can use freeware HDVSplit, which works fine and, not the worth, it allows the automatic scene detection, not possible in PP when capturing HDV.
Having my cam for a few days, i’m a bit new in HDV capture with PP, so maybe, it’s just a PP or videocard setting issue. I had no problem with DV.

    Maybe CS4.

I will try this. Thank you very much. Only thing is you can’t seem to hear sound on the HDVSplit.

Guess I’ll be relying on my camera to offer that. 🙂

It is a “feature” of CS3 that when capturing HDV, you will have NO preview, and also NO scene detect, this is normal.

I use the Matrox RT.X2 hardware with PPro CS3, and this provides video in the capture window, as well as full HD output via analog component and DVI, so I can monitor 1080i externally while capturing. Also adds scene detect and audio level meters to capture window.

RT.X2 also provides true realtime, no render editing, I can’t imagine editing HDV without it. Real productivity booster
