I am making the transition from Liquid to Media Composer and I am having some trouble capturing audio and video. I am capturing from a Sony GV-D1000 that is detected as a generic device. When I open the capture window and try to select the Video and Audio tabs, I receive a message that reads “You may not capture audio and video together unless the audio sample clock is pulled down.” When I try to click on the pulldown tab I get a message that it is not available.

I am a long time Liquid user and while I am looking forward to learning Media Composer, I am finding the learning curve frustrating. Any help or guidance I could get on this issue so I can capture some footage and start learning to edit with Media Composer would be greatly appreciated. I am using (or trying to use) version 5 of Media Composer.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Camilo,

See if you can switch the deck from “generic” to the Sony you mentioned.

I take it you have the deck hooked up via firewire. Do you have anything else acessing the firewire bus?

I only have the deck hooked to the firewire. It is recognized and I can capture video with it but I cannot capture audio and video because of the message I mentioned I keep getting.

hmmmm…..maybe that deck outputs 32K audio files and not 44.1 nor 48K. Try going into capture settings and see what you can do to capture audio recorded or output at a substandard rate. Can’t remember the fix right away, but I remember having this problem with some consumer DV decks and DV camcorders….

I’ll give it a try. I have been using the deck with Liquid for years with no problem and Media Composer will capture audio from it but it will not capture audio and video at the same time
